Who am I?

Hi, I’m Marva — and I’m on a journey of healing and self-discovery.

Over the past year and a half, so much has changed in my life. And as I move through those changes, I’ve come to realize that healing isn’t the straight, direct path I once imagined.

I began with a simple concept: from surviving to thriving.

It had a nice ring to it — and more than that, I believed that with the right steps and routines, thriving was within reach.

But what I’ve learned (because I’m still very much learning) is that progress isn’t linear. There are forward steps and setbacks. There’s relentless anxiety, and waves of depression that feel far more complex than I ever expected.

I tend to think in logical, linear patterns.

But when my thoughts get tangled, it’s a mess to sort through.

And even after years of therapy and self-help books, I’ve had to admit: knowing something is not the same as applying it.

So now, it’s less about “fixing” and more about understanding.

It’s about seeing myself clearly, and with honesty.

It’s about turning lessons into lived wisdom. Not just soundbites that rattle around and fuel negative self-talk.

It’s about learning to balance self-grace with self-discipline.

Originally, I didn’t want this intro to be a list of the roles I play; but they’re important, so here goes:

I’m a 42-year-old mom of three boys, navigating a divorce after a 9-year marriage and 17-year relationship.

I’m a Director in the financial services by day, leading a small team of dynamic women.

I’m a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend.

And most of all — I’m a woman trying to figure out what womanhood looks like for me.

If you’re reading this, I invite you to walk with me.

This journey won’t be perfectly curated or pretty — but it will be real.

And I hope, in sharing my story, I create space for you to reflect on yours too.

Welcome to Marvalous Musings. Let’s figure this out together.
